Power Skating & Stickhandling for Mites/Squirts
Skating Dynamics Summer Power Skating
and Stickhandling program is designed for Mite
and Squirt hockey players interested in improving
their skating and stickhandling skills. The ability to understand
and apply proper skating and stickhandling technique are the two most important
keys to hockey success.
The first two hours of each day are dedicated towards
proper skating technique. The third hour focuses on stickhandling
skills and techniques. Mite and Squirt participants will learn how,
when, where and why these skills make them a better player while developing
excellent habits at a young age.
Every skating skill required for top performance is taught.
Proper skating stance, forward and backward strides, edge control, crossovers
front and back, starts, stops, transition movements and the individual components
of each skill are taught on a progressive basis. Students learn the
proper position of their skates, legs, torso, shoulders, head, arms, and
stick for all skating elements and each stickhandling skill. Proper
hand, stick and puck position along with puck control, setups, and the skating
skills required to sell the fake and make the successful stickhandling move
are taught on a progressive basis. In addition to puck control skills,
the most common game situation stickhandling moves are taught.
Our goal is to have players improve their individual
skill level and have fun while doing it. If you want to improve your
skating and stickhandling skills, there is no better program than Skating
Dynamics.

Evaluation of Skills
At the conclusion of each summer program, students will
receive a written evaluation for each of the skating, stickhandling, passing
and shooting skills taught as determined by the completed program.
Skating Dynamics does not promote competitiveness within the teaching sessions.
No student will be compared to any other student. Our written evaluations
are designed to provide each student and his/her parent/guardian with a
clear indication as to what skills need improvement. Remember, even
professionals require continued practice and coaching to improve and retain
their skills.
