The creative spark behind all Skating Dynamics' programs is Executive
Director Ken Field. Ken realized early in his career that hockey players
of all ages and abilities could greatly enhance their ability to play and
enjoy the game through the proper understanding and application of individual
hockey skills. Ken has developed a comprehensive series of progressive
skill building programs for Skating Dynamics that are specifically designed
to develop dramatic improvement over a very short period of time.
These programs include: Summer Power Skating and Stick Handling, Summer
Power Skating and Hand Skills, Summer Elite Programs, Short Time Programs
and In-Season Training for Hockey Associations. Ken has worked with
both professional as well as amateur hockey players and was the initial skills
coach for the IMG Hockey Academy. If you are a player that wants to
get better, Skating Dynamics has a program that will help you attain your
goals.
Technique Driven
Skating Dynamics focuses on teaching the most effective techniques for
an athlete's success. Regardless of an individual's athleticism, their
speed, agility, ability to finish and make the play will improve in tandem
with their improved skating, stickhandling, passing and shooting technique.
Skating Dynamics focuses on technique, as it is the quickest, most important
method for any player to improve their individual skills.
Personal Attention
We know that the learning environment is often the most important factor
influencing a student's ability to understand and incorporate the information
being taught. We want each student to understand that his or her success
is important. An 8:1 or better student to instructor ration is mandatory
for both our Summer Power Skating and Stickhandling sessions and our Summer
Power Skating and Hand Skills sessions while a 6:1 or better student to
instructor ratio is provided for our Summer Elite sessions. This ratio
and our teaching style allows for maximum interaction between the students
and the instructors. Questions from both students and their relatives
are encouraged, to ensure total awareness of the skills being taught.
Hands-On Instruction
Skating Dynamics doesn't just talk about proper technique, we show you
and physically adjust each player to make sure there is complete understanding
of each skill taught. Participants will learn how, when, where and
why these skills make them a better player while developing excellent habits
and refining their skill level. We are experientially based in our
teaching methods and know that when a student has complete mental and physical
comprehension, they will be able to replicate the skills being taught.
Direct and Immediate Feedback
Skating Dynamics provides direct and immediate positive feedback for
all of our programming. Our instructors skate with the students as
they practice each skill. If the skill is not being practiced correctly,
our instructors correct the student during the skill or take the student
aside to make sure they understand how the skill is supposed to be completed.
No Fillers
Skating Dynamics does not conduct any team drills, scrimmages or conditioning
sessions either on or off ice during our one-week summer instructional programs.
We would rather have each player constantly working on his or her individual
skills. We do not scrimmage within our one-week instructional program
because the scrimmage format limits the amount of time each player handles
the puck. Similarly, we do not conduct on or off ice conditioning
sessions or use parachutes, bungee cords or other resistance devices, as
they do not have significant impact within the confines of a one-week program.
Professional Training at an Affordable Price
Skating Dynamics provides professional training at extremely competitive
rates. You get results at an affordable price. Skating Dynamics
is the best investment you can make as a hockey player!
