2 Day Defensive and Checking Camps (Mite - Midget)
Skating Dynamics 2 Day Defensive and Checking Camps
are designed for Mite/Squirt/PeeWee/Bantam and Older hockey players interested in improving their defensive and checking skills. This program is geared for the hockey player and family who desire ongoing, continual training throughout the summer off-season. This program is for the truly dedicated hockey player, determined to greatly enhance their skill level in preparation for the fast approaching Fall Season.
Our 2 Day Defensive and Checking Camps are offered during 3 different weeks on an alternating 4 week rotation and fit perfectly with our 2 Day Power Skating Camps as well as our 2 Day Scoring and Hand Skill Camps.
Students are welcome to attend one or more sessions but if you are truly serious about improving as a hockey player, you need to enroll in all 9 sessions. Train 2 X's a week for 3 weeks, take a week off, train 2 X's a week for 3 weeks, take a week off, train 2 X's a week and be a monster when the Fall Hockey Season starts!
2 Day Defensive and Checking Camp participants will learn how to properly execute defensive skating skills, improve footwork, angling, gap control and situational analysis/defensive posturing throughout the defensive, neutral and offensive zones. Additionally players will learn to incorporate stickhandling, passing and shooting techniques specific to the offensive blue line. This applies to both defensemen working the point as well as forwards who have transitioned back or who may be positioned high during offensive power play situations. Players will also improve their checking skills including pinning, rub outs, containment, shoulder and hip checks along with a better understanding of the role of checking in hockey and the importance of skating, angling, body positioning, and safety when giving and receiving checks.
Each defensive and checking skill/tactic are taught on a progressive basis to ensure proper understanding. Students will significantly develop their defensive awareness and positioning as well as their ability to safely and effectively give/receive a check. Most importantly, students will RETAIN the information taught throughout the camp and will be able to readily apply these defensive and checking elements into any system they may encounter during their hockey career.
Our goal is to have players improve their individual
skill level, to improve their understanding of the game, to improve their positional tactics as related to defensive and checking skills and to have fun while doing it. If you want todramatically improve your
defensive and checking skills, there is no better program than Skating
Dynamics.
